Activities in Phuket

Phuket has a wide range of activities inlcuding:

  • Watersports (sailing, surfing, windsurfng)
  • Golf
  • Jungle Trekking
  • Deep Sea Fishing

Here are some activities available in Phuket, as recommended by our guests (Hugh and Jean):

"Phuket Tropical Marine Company (+66 76273404). We had a great trip to the islands of Phi Phi, Maya and Khai in a speedboat supplied by the above company. We stopped off at Maya initially (also known as Monkey Island) for reasons which soon become obvious. Then on to Phi Phi for lunch after some wonderful snorkelling in beautiful crystal clear waters and passing many wonderful sights. The afternoon was spent on the island of Khai where again the snorkelling is great - right from the shore!! A wonderful day.

Phang Nga Bay Company (for sea cave canoeing) (Tel: +66 76210434). This company will take you by air-conditioned coach to the North of the island where you transfer to a large boat. This takes you to the sea caves where trained staff paddle you in canoes in and around this wonderful area the scenery is truly spectacular and the staff great fun. A splendid lunch is laid out for you on the main boat which then takes you to another island for a spot of sunbathing and swimming etc before taking you back to the coach for transfer home. This was a very special day and certainly one that we would recommend to anyone.

Siam Safari Nature Tours (Tel: +66 762801167). My sister and I did this trip whilst our husbands played golf!! You are transported by air-conditioned coach to a Nature Reserve on the mainland about 11/2 - 2 hours drive north of the bridge, passing through the most stunning countryside. On arrival at the camp and after refreshments, you either go on a river canoe trip or an elephant ride through the rainforest. The canoe trip is a delight, very peaceful and a chance to catch a glimpse of a lovely variety of bird life and other exotic animals - stopping halfway for an interesting cup of tea/coffee around a bush fire. Back to the camp for lunch in a most delightful setting before being transferred to the elephant camp where you are introduced to the elephants and their mahoots and are then taken into the forest on these wonderful beasts before returning and feeding them some well earned bananas! Transfer back by coach. A long day, but well worth the early start.

Fishing. There are many deep sea fishing trips to book and Khun May is quite happy cooking your catch - boats of all sizes can be booked at the information centre at Chalong Marina where we also hired a small speedboat to take just the four of us out for the day to various islands for some more great snorkelling and sightseeing. If you fancy a change of scenery from the wonderful beaches near the villa, try driving to the north end of the island just short of the bridge to the mainland. The road bears round to the left and you will see the sea on the left - pull in anywhere along this wooded area and you will discover a brilliant white sanded beach - we went up there twice and each time there were only a couple of locals on the beach which is miles long! There are also a handful of 'restaurants' with wonderful bamboo shaded seating areas where they serve brilliant fresh fish and cold beer - then just fall into the sparkling sea for a refreshing swim - pure heaven!! All this and then you return to the joys of Khun May's wonderful cooking!! Khun May very kindly booked most of the above trips for us and ensured that we were to be collected from the villa etc. She is also very happy to arrange restaurant reservations, taxis etc."
