Golden sanded paradise

Phuket is blessed with some of the finest beaches in the World and Kata Beach is the best of them all. Phuket Island is (obviously) surrounded by beaches, but BEWARE the beaches of the East and South coasts are not suitable for swimming.

The water on the East Coast is very shallow (only about 2 feet deep at high tide) and the sea recedes a long way to expose a flat muddy area. So if you want a good beach , make sure you chose the West Coast , and in particular the South West corner of the island has the best beaches.

The beaches to the North of the Island, although much emptier, tend to have steeply shelving beaches that make swimming difficult and very dangerous in the summer season (May to October).
